This CD was produced as an exercise in music genre creation, for part of an Entertainment Technology degree at the University of Portsmouth. These tracks are available for licensing but unfortunately I no longer have the original DAW files so no other mixes are available.

The main defining characteristic of the genre is the combination of specially recorded short sections of music that are harmonically similar but incompatible in tempo. As the sections of music are recorded independently of each other it is always a surprise to the composer how they interact when played at the same time. The composer is allowed great deal of control at the beginning of the process but that gives way to a letting go and a surrender to chance that is reflected emotionally in the music.

When I recorded under the name Man In Formaldehyde I made occasional use of similar techniques mixed with more conventional music but this exercise is the first time I've made music solely using the process.

Whether or not the exercise was a success is left up to you to decide.
